Past Meetings

2021WOS held its annual meeting jointly with the Association of Field Ornithologists and the Northeast Natural History Conference. It was held virtually. Dr. Ellen Ketterson presented the 2021 Margaret Morse Nice lecture.
2020WOS met in conjunction with the 7th North American Ornithological Conference, which was held virtually. Dr. Bette Losielle presented the 2020 Margaret Morse Nice lecture.
2019WOS held its annual meeting jointly with the Association of Field Ornithologists in Cape May, New Jersey, hosted by New Jersey Audubon. Dr. Robert L. Curry presented the 2019 Margaret Morse Nice lecture.
2018WOS held its annual meeting jointly with the Association of Field Ornithologists in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Dr. Reed Bowman presented the 2018 Margaret Morse Nice lecture.
2017WOS held its annual meeting jointly with the Association of Field Ornithologists at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida. Dr. Frank R. Moore presented the 2017 Margaret Morse Nice lecture.
2016WOS met in conjunction with the 6th North American Ornithological Conference in Washington, DC. Dr. John Wingfield presented the 2016 Margaret Morse Nice lecture.
2015WOS held its annual meeting at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, jointly with the Association of Field Ornithologists and the Society of Canadian Ornithologists / Société des ornithologistes du Canada. Dr. Ricky Dunn presented the 2015 Margaret Morse Nice lecture.
2014WOS held its annual meeting at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, jointly with the Association of Field Ornithologists. Dr. Don Kroodsma presented the 2014 Margaret Morse Nice lecture.

2013WOS held its 125th Anniversary Meeting at the College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia, 7–10 March. Drs. Peter & Rosemary Grant presented the 2012 Margaret Morse Nice lecture, and Dr. Jed Burtt presented the 2013 Margaret Morse Nice lecture.
2012WOS held its annual meeting in conjunction with the 5th North American Ornithological Conference at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, 13–18 August.
2011The 2011 annual meeting was held 9–13 March at the Younes Conference Center in Kearney, Nebraska, jointly with the Association of Field Ornithologists and the Cooper Ornithological Society. Dr. Richard N. Conner presented the Margaret Morse Nice Lecture, “Ecology of Red-cockaded Woodpeckers: by necessity, a multidisciplinary study.”
2010The 2010 Annual Meeting was held 20–22 May in Geneva, New York, on the campus of Hobart & William Smith Colleges. Dr. Robert B. Payne and Laura Payne presented the Margaret Morse Nice Lecture, “Brood parasitism in cuckoos, cowbirds, and African finches.”
2009The 2009 Annual Meeting was held 12–13 April in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, jointly with the Association of Field Ornithologists. Dr. Sidney A. Gauthreaux, Jr., presented the Margaret Morse Nice Lecture: “Bird movements in the atmosphere: discoveries from radar and visual studies.”
2008The 2008 Annual Meeting was held 17–19 April in Mobile, Alabama, jointly with the Association of Field Ornithologists. Dr. Jerome Jackson presented the Margaret Morse Nice Lecture: “Thinking like a mountain, seeing like a woodpecker: behavioral ecology and conservation of woodpeckers.”
2007The 2007 Annual Meeting was held 21–24 Mar in Wakefield and Boston, MA. Dr. Doug Mock presented the Margaret Morse Nice Lecture.
2006The 2006 Annual Meeting was held 4–7 Oct., jointly with the other societies in Veracruz, Mexico, at the 4th North American Ornithological Conference. Dr. Gary Stiles presented the Margaret Morse Nice lecture, “Ornithology in a troubled country: progress, problems, and recent work on nectar-feeding birds.”
2005The 2005 Annual Meeting was held 21–24 Apr., jointly with the Association of Field Ornithologists. The meeting was in the Washington, DC, area, at the invitation of the USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center and the Maryland Ornithological Society. Drs. Bridgette Stutchbury and Eugene Morton jointly presented the Margaret Morse Nice Lecture.
2004The 2004 Annual meeting was held 22–25 Apr. at Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology, jointly with the Association of Field Ornithologists. Dr. Steven Emlen presented the Margaret Morse Nice Lecture.
2003The 2003 Annual meeting was held at Ohio Wesleyan University, jointly with the Association of Field Ornithologists. The meeting included the Clark Ornithology Symposium, on the evolution of Galapagos birds. Dr. Robert Ricklefs presented the Margaret Morse Nice Lecture.
2002The 2002 Annual meeting was held in Fort Meyers, Florida. It was held jointly with the Association of Field Ornithologists. Dr. Richard T. Holmes presented the Margaret Morse Nice Lecture.
2001The 2001 Annual meeting was held in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Dr. Glen E. Woolfenden presented the Margaret Morse Nice Lecture.
