Thank you for your interest. The deadline for Student Travel Award applications has now passed and recipients will be notified in mid-April.
The Wilson Ornithological Society invites all students planning on traveling to Allentown, Pennsylvania, to present a contributed oral paper or poster or lead a workshop at the society’s 135th annual meeting (June 20–23, 2023) to apply for a travel award. These awards are both need- and merit-based and are intended to encourage student participation by defraying part of the cost of attending the meeting.
The application deadline is March 1. The award committee intends to select recipients and inform all applicants of the outcome by mid-April. Applicants are encouraged (but not required) to consider joining the WOS if not already a member; an annual student membership, including full access to The Wilson Journal of Ornithology, is only $20.
Please note that we are changing the reimbursement timeline this year. Instead of reimbursing students at the conference, we will make instructions available at the time of announcing the individual travel awards (April 15) to allow students to immediately complete the necessary paperwork to be reimbursed once that paperwork is completed (likely in early May if paperwork is done immediately).
