The WOS established the William and Nancy Klamm Service Award in 2005 to honor members who have performed extraordinary service to the society. At the annual WOS meeting in Santa Fe, New Mexico, last month, it was announced that the 2022 recipient of the Klamm Service Award is Allan R. Keith, Investing Trustees Chair from 2000 to 2018.
Keith has been a Wilson member for more than sixty years, and through his stewardship, the society grew its financial assets by more than $1,000,000 while also providing more than $1,200,000 of support for annual activities. According to the Klamm Service Award Committee, the WOS could not have kept membership rates low, conference registration affordable, and covered journal publication costs without Keith’s foresight, oversight, and management and practices that he pioneered. “His leadership and stewardship cannot be understated,” the award committee members wrote.

Winners of the Klamm Service Award traditionally receive an original painting commissioned from bird artist Julie Zickefoose. Keith’s painting depicts the Puerto Rican Tody, one of his favorite birds. Please join us in thanking and congratulation Allan R. Keith!
